Hollander's
Fiction

My over 50 stories appeared in a variety of magazines, webzines and anthologies. Most of my stories are dark, bordering on horror, which comes natural if you've done time as a reporter out there in the real world.

I've stopped writing fiction in the past couple of years, trying instead to write non-fiction and research, the kind that gets you eventually promoted to full professor. Curiously, writing fiction doesn't really get you promotion, at least not for a journalism prof. Go figure.

You can read one of my favorite and last published stories, Hatchie Bottom.

A few reviews of my fiction

A defunct bibliography of my short fiction

"Horror is not a genre like the mystery or science fiction or the western. It is not a kind of fiction meant to be confined to the ghetto of a special shelf in libraries and bookstores...Horror is an emotion."
