With the Pros

In the early days of the Net I lectured on its use through the American Press Institute, the Georgia Press Association, and the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association. I taught my first class to working journalists on using the internet in 1992. Yes, that's 1992.

In Summer 2006 I taught for six weeks as part of the UGA@Oxford program. Students took a class from me in the mornings (see below) and then a tutorial with an Oxford University professor over a six week period. Helluva time and we made it back during the middle of the bomb scare in Britain.

Our last High Table night, having pre-dinner
drinks on the Trinity College lawn.

Here is a group of journalists from various Asian countries who met in Manila, the Philippines, in 2003 for a workshop we did on covering violence. Also there's a photo of me looking far more intellectual than is often the case.

In Ukraine, I assisted in a workshop on management techniques and readership research to help struggling newspapers. To the left, me leading a discussion with an interpretor. Below, a smaller break-out session with Ukranian journalists.

My thanks to the Cox Center for International Mass Communication Training and Research for allowing me to participate in these events.
